Race the USA Virtual 10k Run Walk – Texas:
Everything’s bigger in Texas, even the running trails. This huge state offers plenty of unforgettable places to run. Some are located within the richly populated cities and others are in the unique terrain that is far from civilization. There are flat trails, hilly trails, and trails along beautiful waterways. And, they are all perfect choices for the Race the USA Virtual 5K Run Series.
Austin, Texas is offers some of the most enjoyable routes in the state. You can complete your own 5K run around Lady Bird Lake on the dedicated trails. If you like running through the city, the downtown area has sidewalks that take you past the Governor’s Mansion, through the University of Texas, and around the tall buildings. If you want to stay off of the sidewalks, there are several green routes like those along Barton Creek, Shoal Creek, and Walnut Creek. One of the most unusual places to run in the Austin area is in McKinney Falls State Park – it is well worth the entry fee to run on the trails in this park.
Houston is also loaded with amazing trails and routes. One of the best runs right through Rice University. It’s shady and quite flat, so it is a great trail for beginners and those with sensitive knees. If historic homes are your thing, then the Paul Carr jogging trail will feed your soul and build your stamina. It’s a short trail of only two miles, but the scenery of historic homes is unique to Houston. Nearby Galveston Island provides 10 miles of seaside running on the country’s longest sidewalk.
Finally, if you prefer to run outside of the hustle and bustle of the big cities, West Texas has amazing trails. There are several in Big Bend National Park. El Paso is home to over 100 trails, some go through mesmerizing canyons, through beautiful wetlands, and through the red sands.

How to Complete:
In short it’s quite simple. Basically you will sign up for your race just like any other race. Only differences is you will choose the state you plan to run your Virtual 5k, Virtual 10k, or 13.1 in. Also when reporting your finishing results make sure you also choose the state you finished in. Once complete we will send out your State themed finisher medal!
